Contact and Agency Routing

This is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot confirm custody, release anyone, post bail, or obtain official booking records. Contact the responsible public office directly for those actions.

Clinton County Records Contacts

The Sheriff is the starting point for county-jail custody questions, county booking material, and the county FOIL form. For an arrest report, identify the agency that made the arrest because a municipal police department, NYSP, or another authority may hold a different part of the record.

Choose the Right Official Path

Different records live with different public offices. The following route list is designed to avoid sending a request to an office that does not hold the material.

  • For current county custody, start with the Sheriff Corrections route and its VINELink link, described on the home page.
  • For a specific county booking record or releasable photo, submit a narrow Sheriff FOIL request.
  • For a City of Plattsburgh police report, use the city police records and FOIL page.
  • For a court outcome or warrant issued by a court, contact the issuing court clerk or use New York eCourts where supported.
  • For an available custody notification, use VINELink; the service is not a final court record.
  • For a state-prison custody record, use the DOCCS lookup.
  • For federal or immigration custody, use the BOP or ICE locator that matches the custody type.

The Wanted Fugitives page gives the county’s official probation and Sheriff routing for a warrant question. A warrant notice or a search result should never be treated as permission to approach a person.
